Be a Part of History! U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit and YALI 2014

You can be a part of history in the upcoming weeks!  To build on the U.S. Government’s commitment to Africa’s security, democratic development, and its people, President Barack Obama will host two, first-of-its-kind summits in Washington, DC - the YALI: Washington Fellows Presidential Summit (July 28 to July 30) and the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit (August 4 to August 6).

Both summits embody the U.S. enduring commitment to Africa.  It is an unprecedented opportunity to talk about where our partnership stands today and to determine where we want to go together in the future. Nigeria has 45 YALI Fellows headed to Washington, D.C. to participate in YALI2014!

The theme of both events, “Investing in the Next Generation,” reflects the common ambition the U.S. shares with the people and governments of Africa to leave our nations better for future generations by making concrete gains in peace and security, good governance, and economic development.  President Obama will host a live Town Hall on July 28 at 4:10 pm WAT to kick off the events, which will be live streamed on www.whitehouse.gov/live.

The President will also host the 51 heads of state and government from across Africa at the U.S. - Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. from Monday, August 4 to Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Our Presidents will meet and engage in a dialog to further our ties.  Learn more by following the links below.
